Expedia: Destination Guides
Expedia, the American travel company that owns and operates several international global online travel brands, required in-depth destination copy to be written to accompany their online ‘vacation guides’. The list of destinations was in the hundreds, and each required extensive research and optimisation for SEO.
I worked closely with the Expedia team in Seattle to understand their desired style, tone of voice and long-term goals. All copy was aligned to the scripts produced for the video travel guides embedded on the same page, many of which have more than 1 million views.
The destinations were thoroughly researched, written in accessible, user friendly language and were able to be easily translated for use on international platforms. Each destination required a main feature and several 'mini features' exploring key points of interest.
For other destinations in the series, I commissioned and managed a large team of remote freelance writers, providing quick, concise feedback and completing the editing and proofreading process in partnership with Expedia.
